Biography

Dr. Malouin is an assistant professor and director of inter Rebecca A. Malouin, PhD, MPH national programs within the Department of Family Medicine. As director, she is the lead administrator for the Methods in Family Medicine Education Training Program, a program supporting the development of primary care and family medicine in Japan by providing 6-12 months of individualized training in family medicine education to Japanese clinicians within the department. Dr. Malouin’s research interests include systems and supports to promote primary care and the patient-centered medical home, both within the United States and abroad. Dr. Malouin has methodological interests in needs assessments, program evaluation and mixed methods approaches in research. Dr. Malouin also provides instruction and course/curriculum development within the College of Human Medicine, particularly in areas related to clinical skills and global health.

Dr. Malouin received her MPH (1997) and PhD (2002) from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and is completing a postdoctoral fellowship in the Michigan State University Department of Epidemiology. Dr. Malouin served as a Peace Corps volunteer in rural Niger, West Africa (1994-1996) and has served as an epidemiologist in both the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (1997-1998) and the Michigan Department of Community Health (2001-2005). Dr. Malouin holds a joint position with the Department of Pediatrics and Human Development.
