William C. Wadland, MD, MS

Dr. Wadland is professor and chair of the Department of Family Medicine which is heavily invested in advancing education, scholarship, and clinical care. Over 35% of the department’s efforts are funded from extramural research funds including significant NIH funding for a clinical department. He personally has been principal investigator for funded studies ranging from medical education, humanities and medicine, to numerous prevention trials on smoking cessation. He is particularly interested in systems that help clinicians incorporate health promotion and disease prevention programs into their busy practices. He has advanced masters training in research design and statistical analysis and has served as a mentor on numerous research projects for faculty, resident physicians, and students. He is also the associate dean for Faculty Affairs and Development for the College of Human Medicine providing opportunities that promote faculty vitality such as programs on leadership, faculty mentorship, core competencies in medical education, and the key elements for successful faculty advancement.

A paper by Dr. Wadland et al was cited as a high impact publication in the field of Computerized Clinical Decision Support in the Year in Review session at the American Medical Informatics Association Symposium, November 12, 2007.
