Dr. Jonathan Arbogast was chosen as this year’s recipient of the Department of Family Medicine’s Preceptor Award for the Flint Community. Dr. Arbogast was nominated by Kinza Tareen and Vivien Phung, CHM medical students.

I’d like to nominate Dr. Jonathan Arbogast for the Department of Family Medicine’s Preceptor Award. As a CHM alumnus himself, Dr. Arbogast goes above and beyond to make the experience of each student in his office meaningful. He allows students to see patients independently allowing us the opportunity to hone in our physical exam skills and grow more comfortable with interviewing patients. In addition to fostering an environment that pushes medical students to become active participants in patient care, Dr. Arbogast was an excellent teacher. He was always available to answer my questions and consistently took the time out of his busy schedule to discuss cases with me and teach high yield clinical correlates. I really valued my time spent in his office and for this reason I think he deserves to be nominated for the award.

I would like to nominate Dr. Arbogast. He is an amazing teacher in the clinic who has been one of the best preceptors at keeping students involved. He is really passionate about working with medical students and he is a really warm physician and human being. I always felt welcome at his office and I learned so much because he gave me so much autonomy to see his patients on my own. Working in his office was an unforgettable experience and it was one of my favorite learning moments of third year.
