Katie Brang grew up in Traverse City, Michigan, but always knew that the Upper Peninsula would be her home. She left Michigan to complete a BA at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. After several years of work and travel, she started medical school at Michigan State’s College of Human Medicine and was part of the Rural Physician Program in Marquette. She completed her Family Medicine Residency in Marquette as well.

After graduation, she and her husband, Dr. Ryan Brang, moved to Ashland, Wisconsin, to practice full-scope rural family medicine. Although they loved Ashland, the UP drew them home, and they returned in 2014 to take faculty positions with the Marquette Family Medicine Residency.
