Sparrow is an exciting, innovative office-based residency program located near our state capital. The program is dually accredited through both the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education and through the American Osteopathic Association.
We provide residents with a setting in which to learn family medicine by actually practicing it. During the first year, there is a “rotating internship” at Sparrow Hospital. Second and third years feature primarily office-based training with on-call care of hospitalized family medicine patients.
There are two office settings — one in Lansing, one in Mason, with a combined patient population of around 13,000. Residents have their own panel of patients for whom they are the primary physician for the duration of training.
We also help sponsor a Sports Medicine Fellowship and a Geriatrics Fellowship through our partnership with Michigan State University. We have also recently begun an NMM/OMM +1 residency through MSU as well.
