The Family Medicine Residency is dedicated to preparing knowledgeable, compassionate physicians, proficient in the art and science of family medicine. We emphasize physician versatility and responsiveness, particularly in the light of the ever-changing needs of patients and their families. While focusing on the broad-based skills essential to effectively manage the practical aspects of primary care, our curriculum is flexible to the individual needs and plans of each resident.

Our new family medicine office functions as a model of a private ambulatory group practice. With a diverse patient population of 16,000, the practice provides residents a variety of continuity of care experiences. Through a structured balance of inpatient, outpatient and critical care experiences, residents learn to practice confidently within all levels of the patient care continuum. Residents assume primary responsibility for patient diagnosis and management on teaching services in surgery, obstetrics, medicine, pediatrics and family medicine. Special opportunities about for rural, underserved, and managed care experiences.
