Clinical decision rules are tools to help clinicians make important decisions about the care of their patients. However, finding studies in PubMed that evaluate their accuracy is difficult. In this study, the authors compared the efficiency of two different search filters in finding clinical decision rules relevant to primary care clinicians. One of the search filters, the Modified Haynes filter, is older and widely used. The authors developed a different approach, called the “Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) filter. While both filters performed well, the RCSI filter was more efficient.
