Network: Ascension Providence Family Medicine Residency
Laci Zawilinski, PhD is an Assistant Professor and the Associate Chair for Graduate Medical Education in the Department of Family Medicine where she works closely with the MSU Family Medicine Residency network leaders and serves as a liaison between the Family Medicine residencies in the network and MSU-CHM.
Dr. Zawilinski is also the Director of Behavioral Health for Family Medicine, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, and full-time faculty in the Family Medicine residency program at Ascension Providence hospital. In these roles, Dr. Zawilinski oversees the behavioral medicine curriculum and spends time with residents at their continuity clinic sites (Deighton Family Practice and Ascension Providence South Lyon) and as part of the inpatient Family Medicine service teaching about behavioral health and providing consultation. She is also the Chair of the program’s Research Committee where she facilitates and assists residents and faculty with their research and quality improvement endeavors. In addition, Dr. Zawilinski is involved in creating and planning resident wellbeing initiatives and DEI education.
Prior to beginning her current roles with Ascension Providence and MSU-CHM, Dr. Zawilinski worked at Ascension Genesys where she completed her fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology and Medical Education (2018). Dr. Zawilinski has also worked with a wide range of patients both at Detroit VAMC and Detroit Vet Center and in private practice where she provided individual therapy and psychological, neuropsychological, and presurgical assessment services.
Dr. Zawilinski received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi, her Master of Arts in Clinical Health Psychology from Appalachian State University, and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Florida State University.
