Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Department of Family Medicine

A. Emiko Blalock, PhD, is an assistant professor in the tenure system at the College of Human Medicine and an affiliate faculty member in the College of Education. Prior to joining the Department of Family Medicine, Emiko was an assistant professor in the Office of Medical Education Research and Development. She earned her PhD in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education in 2019.

Emiko’s work focuses on pathways to and through medical school, teaching and learning in medicine, and understanding the role of empathy in learning in medicine. She is a narrative, longitudinal qualitative researcher, thus seeks to explore the shared experiences of individuals in community and their connections to teaching and learning.
