Dr. Lazar did his undergraduate and medical school at Michigan State, then went to Chicago for residency at Cook County. He came to Flint to work with Lew Simoni, MD, who he found to be a great mentor and teacher. He came to McLaren in 1994 with Dr. Simoni and Dr. Hunt to start the McLaren program, and became the director after Dr. Simoni passed away. When Dr. Mercer retired in 2011, he took over the nursing home rotation teaching, and found that he really enjoys working with the older people and in the rehab setting. Now his main focus in practice and teaching is geriatrics.
