Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Department of Family Medicine

As a graduate from Genesys Family Medicine (FM) Residency program, Dr. Liu has been a full time faculty since year 2000 and has served in various roles in the program, including director of Didactics, medical director of Family Health Center and Dort Medical Group and director of International Education. Currently he is the assistant program director and assistant clerkship director. Academically he is an associate professor with the Department of Family Medicine, College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University.

Dr. Liu has taught and practiced full scope of family medicine. He has very strong interest in dermatology, EKG and office procedures. He received several teaching awards including the Primary Care Educator of the Year award in 2008 in training FM residents. He has presented different topics in family medicine at the state, national and international level. He has reviewed articles for several  family medicine related Journals. In addition, he has been teaching the office procedure, specifically, the radiofrequency surgery for residents at the state level for the past several years.

Dr. Liu was very instrumental in our China Family Medicine Program in Hangzhou, China, from 2010 to 2012. This program helped the Family Medicine Residency Program in Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital in Hangzhou, China become the best standardized  family medicine residency program in China. He has presented this project in China and at the American Academy of Family Physicians Global Health Workshop. As a result, he won Young S. Suh Spirit of Innovation Award in 2010.
