James Mayle, MD, practiced gastroenterology in mid-Michigan for 30 years. He was a faculty member in the MSU College of Human Medicine (CHM) for 25 years and retired from MSU in 2003, having most recently served as chief of the Gastroenterology Section, CHM Department of Medicine. He then practiced until 2008 with the Michigan Gastroenterology Institute. Dr. Mayle completed the MSU/Sparrow Geriatric Fellowship in June 2009, and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Geriatric Medicine. He joined the MSU-CHM Department of Family Medicine as a geriatrician and holds a secondary appointment in the CHM Department of Medicine. Research interests include gastrointestinal issues in the elderly. Dr. Mayle received his medical degree from the University of Michigan. He completed his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology through the Ohio State University Hospitals.
