Michelle Nelson, M.D., earned her medical degree from the University College Dublin following undergraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at the MSU/MidMichigan Medical Center – Gratiot. She received the 2020 AFMRD/NAPCRG Family Medicine Resident Award for Scholarship, the 2020 Resident Teacher Award from the STFM, and the 2020 Star Resident award. Following graduation she joined the program as a faculty physician, specializing in Point-of-Care ultrasound. Alma, with its Scottish heritage, is a perfect fit with Dr. Nelson’s Celtic studies background.

Dr. Nelson lives with her husband, cat and a dog. Aside from working and teaching, she enjoys spending time gardening, crafting culinary experiences, and competitive video gaming, particularly World of Warcraft (for the Alliance!). As a foodie, she also likes to explore the area for the best restaurants in the region.
